Our Team

When you call, email or visit Te Whare Oranga, you'll likely meet at least one of the three friendly faces below. They may be a small team, but they are passionate about Te Whare, and the potential it has to be a force for wellbeing in the local community.

Amy Wood

Amy joined the Helensville District Health Trust as Event Manager in August 2017.

Amy has a Bachelor of Business Management Studies with 13 years’ experience in marketing, event and project management and has worked in both New Zealand and Australia.

She enjoys being involved in the local community and has been a resident of Helensville for the past four years, since moving here with her husband, Daniel Wood, who grew up in South Kaipara. Amy and Daniel have two children and enjoy all that the area has to offer their family.

Key to her role, is overseeing the South Kaipara Harvest & Artisan Market as well as attracting new business and events to Te Whare Oranga ō Parakai, the community centre owned by the Helensville District Health Trust.

Keryn Reardon

Keryn is a great asset to the Te Whare team, having been a chef for 18 years, working both nationally and internationally in restaurants, hotels, cafés and on private superyachts.

She started working for Te Whare Oranga in December 2015 as Kitchen Manager.

Keryn says among the things she loves about her job are her ability to pass on her own passion for great food, by teaching our tamariki to make good food choices. She also loves reconnecting with the community where she grew up. She's looking forward to continuing to grow the kitchen facilities at Te Whare Oranga so that they become a well-used asset for the local South Kaipara community.

Tania Sterk

Tania has worked for the Helensville District Health Trust for some years and has been the Caretaker/Cleaner and general assistant at Te Whare Oranga since its opening in early 2015.

Tania lives in the caretaker residence next door to Te Whare Oranga and is on call for after hours access and support for facility users.

She says her job has given her the opportunity to meet lots of interesting people and to contribute to the success of the facility.

She's been living in Parakai for four years and says it's wonderful to see the many different community groups using the complex.
