Role Description:

The Helensville District Health Trust is looking for a Sous Chef to join its team of chefs passionate about the promotion of good, healthy food to the South Kaipara community.

This is a 30-hour a week role on a 12-month fixed term ending 20 December 2019 as parental cover.

Your work will mostly be split between time in the commercial kitchen at the Health Trust’s community facility, Te Whare Oranga ō Parakai and at the Kaipara College Tuck Shop.

Your working week may involve some weekend and evening hours and we need someone flexible enough to meet the changing demands of our kitchen team, although we will endeavour to give as much notice as possible of alterations to usual hours.

Person Description:

This is an exciting position for someone with ambition and a passion for engaging with our community, especially youth. You can develop, create and hone your skills in all aspects of catering including managing a retail food operation.  

You will need to work independently as well as working closely with our Chef/Kitchen Manager and other team members.

You will have experience working in a commercial kitchen and have a personable manner with the ability to engage with people from all walks of life, particularly teenagers.

Effective organisation and problem-solving abilities are a must.
