If you’re in the food industry, whether in a café, supermarket or marae, you’ll know the importance of keeping your staff trained and qualified in food safety and handling. That task has become a little easier, with Keryn Reardon, Kitchen Manager at Te Whare Oranga ō Parakai recently gaining the credentials to act as an assessor for Food Standards. So, if you have staff or volunteers who need their Service IQ accreditation updated, contact Keryn at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our Kids' Kitchen Club meets every Harvest Market where we hold three sessions at 9am, 10am and 11.30am. We cater for all kids aged 3-11 years. Cost is only $5 per child and bookings are essential as the classes are very popular.
Next date: Sunday 27 August Theme: Querky Quesadillas
Email email@example.com to book, or to suggest a class you'd like to see in the teaching kitchen.
During Term Two 2016 a group of senior students from Helensville Primary School visited Te Whare Oranga once week to explore cooking and food from around the world. This follows the hugely successful Cooking Clubs that have already been running with students from Parakai Primary School. Thanks to the Helensville Lions Club and Foundation North for funding for the Cooking Clubs and helping inspire a new generation of young Masterchefs.
